Backed by Research
The vision for The Lexile® Framework for Reading came from two colleagues who were committed to educational research. And we’re still researching new ways to apply Lexile tools and principles to our always-changing educational environment.
More than 30 years ago, the initial research studies to create the Lexile scale were funded by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) with a series of grants over the course of a decade. Today, MetaMetrics®, including Lexile® and Quantile® measures, have been externally validated by hundreds of studies in 25 states and 24 countries.
Our research roots permeate every corner of our company. More than half of our team is comprised of psychometricians, data scientists and researchers who offer more than 600 years of combined experience. Our team combined holds more than 40 doctorate and graduate degrees from some of the most prestigious universities in the world, including Duke University, Princeton University, Stanford University and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
On both the math and reading side, we are working on building personalized learning platforms based upon the principles of deliberate practice and sound psychometric theory. We continue to pursue research to help students and educators monitor and accelerate their track to success in college and careers.
