Keep Your Students On Track for College and Career with The Newly Updated Lexile® Growth Planner

Years of research have shown that 1300L  is the ideal Lexile measure for students to reach to be prepared for college-level reading. Starting at 3rd grade, you can begin charting students’ Lexile measures from statewide annual tests to see if they’re on the path to college and career readiness, or if they need additional support.

What is the Growth Planner?

The Growth Planner, an Honorable Mention in Tech & Learning 2018 Awards of Excellence,  is a tool to determine if your students are on track to graduate college- and career-ready.

How does it work?

Based on past Lexile measures from statewide annual tests, the Lexile Growth Planner:

• Forecasts your students’ growth,
• Determines if they’re on track with their reading to be college- and career-ready and
• Shows how your students compare to others across the nation.  

If your students are projected to fall short of graduating college- and career-ready, the Growth Planner can also produce a recommended growth path. Knowing where the students are and where they need to be helps to identify and close any gaps. The Growth Planner also includes resources to encourage and promote reading growth to meet the desired goals. It’s a great tool to use on your own, share with parents and even share with your students directly.

How does it help me?

With less than 40 percent of U.S. students scoring at college-and career ready levels, many students are graduating ill-prepared. The Growth Planner provides much-needed insight early in the process of your students’ success in college and career so you can guide and direct as needed.
